Packing, marking and shipment

How rigging hardware is packed for export — cartons, pallets, marking, container loading and the documents that travel with the shipment.

Rigging hardware is heavy, and freight is a real part of the landed cost. Packing is agreed before production so that the carton count, pallet count and container utilisation are known when you confirm the order, not after it.

Inner packing

  • Small items are packed in cartons to an agreed count — per piece, per bag, or per bundle — and the carton is labelled so that a partial carton can still be identified.
  • Heavy or sharp-edged items are separated or sleeved so they do not damage each other or the carton in transit.
  • Where items are supplied as an assembly — a shackle with its pin, a clip with its saddle and nuts — the parts are kept together so the set arrives complete.

Pallets

  • Cartons are stacked on pallets to an agreed layer pattern, stretch-wrapped and strapped.
  • Pallet height and weight are set so the pallet can be handled at destination and so the container is used efficiently.
  • Fumigation requirements are followed where the destination or the pallet material requires it — tell us the destination and we will confirm.

Marking

  • Shipping marks are applied to the carton and the pallet as you specify: item description, size, quantity, order or contract reference, carton number, and destination.
  • Private-label printing on the carton is supported where volumes justify it.
  • The marking on the product itself is the permanent marking required by the standard — size, working load limit, manufacturer and traceability code. That marking is not removed for private-label orders.

Container loading

  • Packing data — net and gross weight, carton dimensions, cartons per pallet, pallet count — is provided with the quotation so container utilisation can be calculated before the order is confirmed.
  • Loading is planned so weight is distributed and the pallets cannot shift.
  • Photographs of the loading can be provided where the buyer wants them.

Documents

  • Commercial invoice and packing list, with the item description, quantity, net and gross weight and carton count.
  • Certificate of origin where required by the destination or by a preferential trade arrangement.
  • Inspection documents to the EN 10204 type agreed at the time of order — see the glossary.
  • Bill of lading through the nominated forwarder, or ex-works collection by your own forwarder.
Packing specification, pallet configuration and document set are confirmed per order. Send the destination and any forwarder requirement and we will quote against it.
